Penn Square Bank Collapse (1982)

The Penn Square Bank Cases were the result of the 1982 collapse of Penn Square Bank and the bankruptcy case of Penn Square’s holding company which spanned 11 years. Bank regulators called it a “free spending, free-lending, energy bank that hurt investors and financial institutions in at least 35 states.”
