State v. Littlechief (1978)

Brock Kenyon Littlechief was charged with Murder in the Second Degree in the District Court, Caddo County on November 11th, 1975. However, the homicide occurred on land held in trust for the Kiowa Tribe that Judge Fred Daugherty ruled was considered Indian country. This meant that the only the federal court, not the State of Oklahoma, had the authority to prosecute the crime.

In 1978, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the dismissal of the state charge.
